When you go to work in the winter do you have to walk through ankle deep water? No? Then why should I?
If you were to find a stranger on the stress and ask them to walk through ankle deep water, would they? No? What if you paid them? Then why should I walk through ankle deep water for free? You make more money than me, you should be the one to courteously step in those puddles every day. Besides, afterall...aren't you the one who can better afford new shoes when your old ones get holes from being muddy and dirty? Aren't you the one who can afford to take a sick day when you have to go to the doctor as you suffer from trench foot?
Did my resume list me as a puddle jumper? I don't recall, if so, I need to update that. I have no long jumping experience and apologize for misleading you if I mentioned I did. I have played hopscotch and jumped rope, but I was 10 years younger and 70 pounds lighter.
Perhaps we should discuss paving the employee parking lot?

Perplexed
I have got to figure some shit out!! I've been toying with this problem for a few weeks now. The new guy is fine (technically speaking)...but I don't feel like I'm getting good quality or what I want ultimately. I think that's because I've been spoiled by...HIM! Do I dare go backwards? The Wise One told me absolutely not...but he keeps me sane. Or is he the reason I'm not sane to begin with...hahaha!
We talked recently and he said we don't really have a friendship. I've been thinking a lot about this. It's been five years, I suppose...good years even, we're going on six years this month. Ha! I have to laugh at the fact that we met by such random chance and the friend who introduced us is long gone but we've managed to stay just as close. I've kinda set the standard based on him (at least in part or maybe more than part) and now I'm starting to wondering if maybe...just maybe...I don't even wanna write it, writing it - like saying it, makes it real. My gut is totally in my stomach...do you ever toy with yourself, do it, don't do it, do it...DON'T DO IT!
I think we're both just so much alike that it's a problem. We're both totally fucked up and we aren't meant to be in relationships. Ha! I just wonder if after six years we ought to try something, something real...and yet....I don't want to because what we have is something that I don't want to lose. Is that what he's dealing with too? Besides it's all fun right now and would it be fun if we felt trapped? Certainly not.
But I keep coming back to the six years factor. We've seen each other through a lot, the death of family members, our vast random "relationships" or non-relationships as we call them, moves, jobs, hobbies, and overall growth. We do have a friendship!!! Aha! I have found the light! Now what? Nothing, now I close the writing page and get back to the routine...new guy, old guy, friends, friends, friends.

A Rant
It is time for one of my famous rants...
Dear women's restroom users,
I understand that you are in a rush, I get that you have better things to do. But, it would mean so much to me if you could do as your mother taught you and flush your toilet. I'm not asking that much, just one flush, two need not be completed. Don't just tap the handle, please pause and watch the glory of your creation disappear before your eyes. Enjoy the magic of the toilet.
If you could find the time to simply complete this task it would make me that much cheerier. I would no longer find myself checking stall after stall for a clean place to sit. I would no longer have the unfortunate chance of viewing...well...the rather unpleasant sights I've seen.
Do you think this is asking too much? If so, I ask that you please return to the barn in which you were raised or find a bush outside to defecate on. It only seems fair that the humane individuals ought to enjoy the privilege of the bathroom and that the more animalistic among us, ought not.

I Got Fucked
I got fucked...and not in the good way. Ha! My refridgerator died and the maintenance people came to replace it. When I got home it had been replaced. I got thirtsy and went to the fridge for a drink out of my two litter...they had for some reason re-screwed the top on and now I can't get it off. It's far too tight!!! My hand is bruised from trying to open it, I've tried everything and...no drink for me...I'll have to wait til tomorrow and ask my neighbor for help...poooooooooo
Random-ness
I'm going on a date tonight with a wonderful guy who is a female body trainer. Crazy! He's totally buff and he spends his day around GORGEOUS women who do a variety of things including modeling, cheerleading and more. Yet, I feel confident that I'm good enough for him. I'm okay with his job and the women around him, they don't threaten me in any way and I'm not jealous...this may be the first time in my life that I've been at ease with the idea of someone letting him do his thing, I'll do mine, and I'll put faith in you to be honest with me as to how things go.
I hate voice mail...with a passion! Yesterday I had something rather comical to share with Alena and so I called her, when she didn't answer I decided to leave a message and yet make it clear that a voice mail message in return would send my frazzled nerves a frenzy! I understand the desire to leave a voice mail message - sometimes I even like them. But as a whole, I hate voice mail. I have caller ID and if you're one of my friends - I can see you called and I'll call you, no need to leave a message! I rant...hehehehe!
Some crazy nut was on my blog space at 1am this morning!! According to my blog log - this individual looked at 20 pages of my stuff...I laughed like crazy when I saw that, I didn't even know I written tha much and certainly not anything interesting enough to warrant that much reading! HA! Thank you my loyal reader and may tonight bring you some sleep!
Do what makes you happy, I can't say this enough. Do you not know the answer? Ask yourself and make sure you spend enough alone time to listen. If it's a person, if it's a hobby, if it's a job or a food you want - do what makes you happy!!! Happiness can only be created from within and although sometimes hard to see, we all can achieve such wonderful things if we just spend the time and effort on making sure we understand and work for the things in our lives that are our priorities.
I'd like to send some thoughts and well wishes to the Beasaw family who is dealing with a very crazy group of individuals at this time. This wonderful family has been the target of some evangelicals in their area (yes, they really do exist) who think it is their duty to save them from damnation. I, however, feel strongly that this family is not damned. Jeanne Beasaw has been such a kind soul to me. When living in Missouri she was the only adult who really was there when needed. She always offered herself, her family and her home to Cottey girls, myself included. She is much loved!!! Jason Beasaw is a wonderful guy as well! As we all know, Jason and his wife are kind hearted people who will go out of their way for those that matter to them. Again, truly a wonderful family and I hope all the people in my life will send them positive energy as they are in need and truly deserving!

Fear of February
I'm not entirely sure how I got to this place, but I have a fear, a complete and utterly terrifying fear of February. I start to feel this impending doom around the middle of January as I feel February creeping into my calendar view.
Here it is, the "F" word...the nasty, dirty thing that it is - February!
There are a lot of thoughts about where I think this fear may have come from. The first being that I have never been dating someone and been spoiled on that dreaded day...February 14th. I have never gotten those beautiful red roses, chocolates or a romantic dinner.
There was a year, long, long ago, when I was asked on a Valentine's date. Like most of my attempts at special nights...it failed miserably with me sitting in a really hot outfit with my female roomie. We made the best of it and used edible body paint and rum to distract from the fact that my date flopped and although he showed up, he showed dressed casual (jeans!!), no flowers, no chocolates, no dinner plans...oh yeah, and he showed up on the door at 10pm.
I suppose ever since that really nasty event (which I do take partial credit for, which I'd rather not get into too much detail over ...now at least...), I've had a very terrifying time watching February 14th creep onto my calendar.
This year will be like all the others though...I will not have a date, I will not get flowers, I will not get chocolates and I will not get a romantic dinner with someone I love. I will inevitably be forced to watch my co-workers get flowers, eat their chocolates and discuss great dinner plans around the water cooler.
I almost feel a strange sort of acceptance about this though. Although my heart flutters and my squint in anger when I look at the calendar, I know that I'll get an "I love you" telephone call from Alena, I know that Akiko will send me an e-card with something crazy on it, my dad will inevitably get me a really thoughtful Hallmark item and the day will pass, like the worst of everything always does.

The Art of Gift Giving
Let's discuss the art of gift giving. It's called an art for a reason.
First, there was a really great guy who once gave me hundred's of dollars in jewelry as a gift. Sweet gesture, yet - do you see me covered in expensive jewelry? No. In fact, those items never left their original boxes.
Second, there was this guy who always gave his friends and families framed photos. Photo's he had taken and felt like giving out in his custom frames. Kind gesture, yet very self centered.
Now, think about the types of gifts you give. STOP! There's an art to this. Do you give gifts that you like? Do you give people things to make you feel better? The jewelry guy gave pricey gifts to make him look like he cared. To him, this was his way of saying he had something to offer. Note to him - money isn't everything. The picture guy gave gifts that were neat to him, yet he never thought about who he was giving the gift to and the gifts were presented in such a manner that made him look very self centered.
Before you give someone a gift, think about that individual. Don't give out a standard gift like a picture or jewelry. Give something that will be meaningful to the receiver, not to you! The gift is not about you!!! A gift should show that you know the individual who you purchased/made it for and that you want to give them something that is of meaning and will be valued in their life.
Example of a great gift: a guy friend of mine gave me a really cool sign for Christmas. It read "Danger: Men, Please Read Before Entering" and it contained 10 things men should know before dating me. It was adorable, comical and great to have. I've since posted it in my home office and really think this was the best gift I received all year.
Before you give a gift, stop and remove yourself from the process - give a gift to someone that says - "I know you deep down and I know you'd like this."

Just Another Let Down
Forgive the rant...
Every time I try to do something special, it always backfires and I end up really angry. Like tonight...I made a mistake - I put faith in the guy I'm seeing. Perhaps unwarrarented trust. He said let's do dinner at 7:30 and I had no real reason not to trust in that but when 7:30 came around, he texted to say, let's make it 8:30. At 8:30 I found myself sitting in front of the fire alone...go figure. By 9 o'clock I was still waiting and now very angry because I've been dressed up in a cute little dress with flashy makeup and heels for my dog. Chewy appreciates my efforts and thank goodness someone does. Tomorrow, I took the day off work hoping to spend the morning in bed with the guy I'm head over heels for...instead I'll spend my morning alone in bed with Chewy. We'll cuddle and I'll tell him how much I adore him. I have a dog because he can be relied upon and Chewy will never let me down.
